Singer Marti Pellow isn’t just starring in his first pantomime in Birmingham – he’s also writing the songs.
The Wet Wet Wet star is looking forward to being booed as evil Abanazar in Aladdin at Birmingham Hippodrome.
But it’s not enough to make his panto debut in what is often called the best in the land.
He’s also written two new original songs for the production.
Marti is starring alongside Julian Clary, Casualty actor Lee Mead and comedian Matt Slack.

“I’ve never written anything for the stage before but I have been starring in musical theatre for a good 10 years.

“I’m very excited to be in my first pantomime, especially as it doesn’t get any better than Birmingham.
“I love the city, I’ve been coming here since the early 1980s and it has been very good to me.
“I would like to say it is the first time in my career I’ve been booed, but it’s not! It’s probably the first time I will be encouraging boos.”
Aladdin plays Birmingham Hippodrome from December 19 to January 31 2016. Click here for tickets.
